Description
The Dover MAG™ series servo linear actuator offers an integral ironcore direct drive linear servo motor with up to 5 G’s of acceleration and peak force generation of 170 newtons for high acceleration and force generation applications. When smoother motion is required, the stage can be configured with an ironless direct drive linear servo motor for smooth velocity, reduced cogging, and less attractive forces. This makes the Dover MAG™ an ideal candidate for demanding life science, medical, photonics, semiconductor, and hard disk drive inspection and repair positioning applications.
MAG Servo Linear Actuators are very compact, measuring 50mm tall by 150mmwide. Any two versions will bolt directly together to form a stiff, compact X-Y assembly, without the need for adapter plates.
MAG Servo Linear Actuators employ a moving magnet design, which locates all cables and connectors in the stationary base. The resulting absence of moving cable is clean and compact and eliminates motion errors due to cable forces. The precision ground cross roller way provides high stiffness together with smooth motion, and are capable of supporting torque’s due to off set loads. Cage creep is eliminated through the use of anti-creep assemblies. The built-in encoder is available with resolutions from 1 micron down to 5nm. Standard travels range from 50mm to 250mm in increments of 50mm.

Applications
Our MAG™ series servo linear actuator is great for applications that require high speed linear motion, or more precise positioning than can be achieved with a screw drive. One application use is for 2G acceleration of a sensor for testing purposes.
