Low-profile Two-axis, Positioning with Clear Aperture

The Dover OFS™ series inverted microscope XY stage combines low-profile, two-axis positioning with a clear aperture, allowing it to be used for applications requiring transmitted light, cable, or pneumatic access through the bottom.

Description

The OFS™ series has orthogonality “machined-in” by the three-piece construction of these XY stages that employ ball ways. Both motors are attached to the center section so that they both move with the lower axis and the cabling only flexes in one direction of travel. The 1.5-inch-by-1.5-inch clear aperture allows OFS™ series tables to be used in applications requiring transmitted light, cable or pneumatic access through the bottom, or two-sided access to the user’s part. The use of side-mounted lead screws with spring-loaded friction nuts driven by 17-frame motors achieves a stage body thickness of only 1 inch. The motors include rear-shaft mounted knobs for manual control, and locking motor and limit/encoder connectors allow convenient attachment of cabling.

Design Features

  • Clear aperture for two-sided access
  • Large 42 millimeter unobstructed opening

Options

  • Motor options available: stepper motors or servo motors
  • Feedback options available: rotary encoder, linear encoder with analog or digital (1 um or 0.1 um resolution are standard, other resolutions available upon request)
  • Download the datasheet for this linear motion XY stage for additional technical details

Applications

The Dover OFS™ inverted microscope XY stage has been integrated with microscopes to allow backlighting of a sample from below.
