XY LINEAR STAGE – XYA

Description

The XYA™ series has embedded motors that allow for a bottom cable exit and for the external cables not to become tangled on the side of the stage. Covers provide pinch point protection during motion and result in an elegant appearance. This XY linear stage incorporates the motor and controller into the body of the stage.

Applications

A traditional XY stepper motor stage has four flexing cables which hang off the two stepper motors that protrude from two sides of the stage. By embedding the controls, Dover Motion was able to conceal the motors within the XY linear stage and create a clean, compact design. This had two benefits–reducing the cable count from four moving to one stationary, and more importantly, eliminating potential operator pinch points through the use of innovative cover designs. A grid pattern was machined into the upper table for ease of set-up and part placement under the XY linear stage surface metrology head, and tapped holes added for additional feature attachment. The clean, visual appearance was reinforced by all the metal parts and fastener hardware being black anodized.

Design Features

  • Low profile, aesthetic design with concealed motors
  • No external moving cables
  • Popular for Surface Metrology applications
